A TALENTED trumpeter has been picked to play in a top national orchestra.
James Mayhew, 12, a pupil at Winterfold House School, Chaddesley Corbett, has been selected for the senior section of the National Children's Orchestra, where he will play alongside 18-year-olds.
Jeremy Price, the school's director of music, described the achievement as "amazing" and predicted a career in music.
"James is very good at reading music and has a good attitude, practising hard every day, both in and out of school," he said.
The youngster is already a member of the Worcestershire Youth Orchestra and regularly performs with both the school jazz band and orchestra. His next big gig will be the school's summer concert, at Kidderminster Town Hall, on July 1.
