SUSPECTED UFOs were spotted in the sky by Bewdley residents last weekend.

A series of orange lights were seen moving across the sky between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday.

People contacted the Shuttle/Times & News to tell us about their sightings. Reports suggested there were up to 60 lights in the sky for about 15 minutes.

Mick Insull, of Bewdley, said: “They were above helicopter height and didn’t appear to make a sound. They were all on the same flight path and moved from north west to south east. I don’t believe in aliens but I’d love to know what they were.”

Hayley Howard and her family, of Bewdley, had a similar experience. “They were unexplainable,” she said, “I guessed they may have been some kind of UFO as there have been sightings recently across the country. I am glad it wasn't just us that saw them.

“They were not Chinese lanterns, as they would have a candle flickering.”

Chinese lanterns are often used at firework displays and have been blamed for some suspected UFO sightings in recent years. After they are lit, the lanterns float into the air and across the sky like balloons.

Mr Insull said he thought they looked more like lights than Chinese lanterns, though.

He explained: “They glowed too brightly and surely there were too many of them to be lanterns.”

Julia Whale, of Bewdley, said: “The sight was amazing but a bit weird. The lights seemed to be travelling at the same speed, without a sound. All the lights appeared to be the same brightness.”
