WORCESTERSHIRE Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has welcomed the results of the Healthcare Commission review of the services it provides.
Acute mental health inpatient services are provided by the trust at Kidderminster Hospital.
Along with the majority of trusts, both nationally and regionally, providing similar services, the trust’s acute inpatient services have been judged as “fair”.
The review was carried out before the trust’s new Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, described as the gold standard in psychiatric care, was opened at Newtown Hospital, Worcester and was largely based on data from 2006/07, rather than on the views of service users.
Dr Ros Keeton, chief executive. said: “The trust will be looking carefully at the results of this review to identify any areas for action, in particular improving the involvement of patients in their care.
“We believe we have made substantial improvements since the data was collected for this review and will be asking our service user/carer advisory group to monitor the development of patient involvement over the coming year.”
