LIBRARIES across Worcestershire are launching the reading escapes photographic competition as part of The National Year of Reading.
The competition runs from Monday through to Tuesday, September 30 and libraries countywide are looking for people of all ages to send in a photograph of the place where they escape to read and what makes reading special for them.
Photographs will be displayed in libraries and an overall winner will receive either a day at a photographic school or a photographic portrait.
Conservative county councillor, Alwyn Davies, chairman of Worcestershire County Council, said: “This is a great competition for budding photographers and bookworms.
“Reading is an essential part of everyone’s lives and we all have our own special place that we take our favourite book.
Ruth Foster, the county council’s library and literacy manager, said: “As part of the celebrations for National Year of Reading we are running a photography competition to try and capture the places where you escape to read.
“You may like to read on holiday, when travelling or just when you are sitting relaxing at home. Wherever it is, we would like to know, we would also like you to tell us why you enjoy reading.
“There are some great prizes, so why not take part?”
Anyone wanting more information about their local library and details about the competition can log onto www.worcestershire.gov.uk/libraries
