GUESTS at the Mount Hotel, in Clent, were evacuated from their rooms when fire spread in the hotel’s kitchen and utility room in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from Kidderminster, Bewdley, Bromsgrove and the West Midlands spent three hours tackling the fire after being called at 1am.

The blaze went through to the bedroom above which was occupied. About 40 people had to leave the building and were relocated to the Hilton Hotel in Bromsgrove.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reels to put the fire out.

They are currently carrying out an investigation into the cause of the fire.
