FIREFIGHTERS in Stourport will throw open the doors of their fire station on Saturday.

An open day, staged in conjunction with West Mercia Constabulary, will be held at the Foundry Lane base from noon to 4pm.

Visitors will have the chance to look around and take part in events and will also be offered free fire safety advice.

Attractions include a smoke tent, bouncy castle, fire engine rides for children, a charity stall selling items such as children’s fire helmets and mini fire extinguishers, face painting and DJ.

Several emergency vehicles will be on show, including Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s Environmental Protection Unit, which is based at the Stourport station and responds to incidents across the two counties.

A police car, ambulance and ambulance fast response vehicle will also be on parade.
