KIDDERMINSTER Harriers fans are being asked to park considerately with the start of the new season.

Police have received complaints from residents of Oldnall Road and Hillgrove Crescent, which are both access only.

One of the residents, the father of a young baby, phoned police after he had to park 800 yards away from his home.

Local policing officer, PC Phil Green, said: “The parking at these locations is causing some local residents problems.

“Parking is not permitted in these two roads, except for residents and residents’ visitors.

“We request that football supporters please acknowledge that the area is access only and not to park in either location.

“We are appealing to them to park considerately and not to cause obstructions, for example near junctions, on both sides of the road and on the footpath, which can cause problems for people trying to get by with wheelchairs or pushchairs.

“We don’t want to hand out tickets but culprits could potentially face a £30 fine for causing an unnecessary obstruction.

“It is, therefore, best to arrive early and park somewhere a little way away, such as Chester Road South, and be prepared to walk.”

PC Green said the police were liaising with Wyre Forest District Council and the football club stewards on parking.

The next home game at Kidderminster is on Saturday, followed by Saturday, August 30.
