KIDDERMINSTER’S B&Q store is giving people the chance to take part in a Help the Aged volunteering day during September.

The charity is appealing for residents to get involved with the volunteering day, which runs between Saturday and Sunday, September 13 and 14, outside the B&Q store.

Help the Aged, which recently became one of B&Q’s charities of the year, is calling for supporters to go to the Kidderminster store and help raise funds for disadvantaged older people in the UK.

The money raised will be put towards funding projects, services and activities for older people, such as the Christmas lunch programme.

Every year, the charity hopes to raise £100,000 to support older people’s groups and projects across the UK in hosting a Christmas event, giving more older people the chance to socialise and enjoy a Christmas celebration.

It helps to relieve the acute isolation some older people can feel during the festive season.

Rachel Collander-Brown, of Help the Aged, said: “We are urging people in Worcestershire to spare just a few hours to come down to the Kidderminster B&Q and shake a bucket to support Help the Aged.

“Volunteers play a crucial role in the work carried out by the charity and this is a great chance to get involved and make a lasting difference to the lives of older people.”
