CHARITY workers at Macmillan Cancer Support are launching their 2008 campaign to recruit coffee morning hosts in Wyre Forest to help host the world’s biggest coffee morning.

People are being asked to help raise funds and break all records on Thursday, September 26 by getting people together for coffee at work, at home or wherever they are on the day.

The event in Wyre Forest has been launched at the Aga Shop in Kidderminster town centre and staff there have been inviting customers to call in to support people living with cancer.

As a result of local fund-raising, including the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, people in Wyre Forest have benefited from the services of three new clinical nurse specialists based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and a dedicated palliative care team working with the local community.

There are now 20 Macmillan nurses and other posts in the county that have been funded by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Kelly Edwards, Macmillan fund-raising manager for Worcestershire, said: “People register to host a coffee morning at work, at home or in the community and invite their friends and colleagues to have a great time, while raising much needed funds to help people affected by cancer.

“To find out more, call 0845 602 1246 or visit www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee.”

She added: “This year, Macmillan will be introducing two new Macmillan nursing posts, including a skin cancer specialist.

“Later, we will be starting a countywide Cancer Information and Support Service,” she added.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in 2007 raised more than £20,000 at 105 separate events in Wyre Forest.
