DRIVERS are being warned that a Kidderminster road is access only amid fears of a collision.
The issue of motorists driving along Barnetts Lane was raised by several members of the public at Tuesday’s Spennells and Aggborough PACT - Partners and Communities Together - meeting.
Local policing officer, PC Phil Green, said: “Barnetts Lane is an access only road and is very narrow in the main, with only enough room for one vehicle.
“Since the road works began on Worcester Road, there has been a substantial increase in vehicles using the lane to cut through from Chester Road South to Comberton Road.
“Residents have raised their concerns that now schools are back from the summer break and pupils are using the lane to walk to Comberton Primary School and King Charles Lower School in Borrington Road, there is the potential for a collision.
“We would like to remind drivers that Barnetts Lane is access only and has signage - a round disc with a white background and showing a picture of a car with a motorcycle above - informing motorists of this at either end.
“They should not be driving along the lane unless they are a resident or are going to a specific address along the lane.”
The priorities at the PACT meeting were a request to consider whether the recycling facilities at Warbler Place were still required, concern about noise pollution from Easter Park, a call for more activities and events for over 55s on Spennells, and a call for more youth facilities at Heronswood Park.
Updates on these issues will be given at the next meeting, which is likely to be on December 2, although the date will be confirmed nearer the time.
