AN application by an internationally recognised Judo Club in Kidderminster has been recommended for refusal because the site lies in the green belt.

Samurai Judo Club have applied to build a new facility at the Gilt Edge Bowling Club in Zortech Avenue but case officer, Paul Round, is against the bid.

He said: “The proposal constitutes inappropriate development in the green belt, which in itself creates substantial harm.

“No circumstances have been submitted that amount to very special circumstances to clearly outweigh that harm.”

Club officials have pointed out there successes at regional and national level and that two of their members are aiming for the Olympics in 2012.

Stourport Town Council have recommended approval of the application saying the club’s successes constitute special circumstances.

The planning development control committee will decide on the application at 6pm on Tuesday at Duke House, Clensmore Street, Kidderminster.

Substantial harm????
Has Paul Round looked at the huge factory / storage units in the area. Take a look on the internet, google earth, Mr. Round. and tell me what harm building on an eye sore of a disused tennis court will do?
