IMPROVEMENTS to recycling facilities in Wyre Forest are overdue and have been put on hold due to a lack of funds, according to a new report.

Wyre Forest District Council was due to have reached its target for providing on-street recycling points or “pods” by June 30.

The Priority Actions: Progress report by the council’s corporate services scrutiny committee stated the work was “overdue” and 66 per cent complete.

A previous report, in July, had claimed the work was 80 per cent complete.

Recycling points on Stourport Riverside and Brinton Park, Kidderminster that were “imminent” in July have now been put “temporarily on hold” until it is established that there is adequate funding.

The report added: “It should be noted that the original plan was to locate the recycling points in Stourport High Street. The change of plan has necessitated extra funding.”

Other recycling points in Weavers Wharf, Kidderminster and Bewdley had also been promised but these too have been put on hold.

“Pods” have so far been provided in Kidderminster’s Hurcott Road and Market Street, as well as Kidderminster College.
