A LONG-running Kidderminster society is staging a classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

The Carpet Trades Operatic Society's production of South Pacific will take place at Stourport Civic Hall from Monday, October 13 to Saturday, October 18.

The show features a number of famous songs including Happy Talk and I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.

The story is set in the Polynesian Islands of the South Pacific, at the crossroads of the American naval conflicts of the Second World War.

The society has been performing musicals for 64 years and meets regularly at New Meeting Hall in Church Street, Kidderminster.

New members are being sought to help with backstage work, lighting and performance. Anyone interested should contact secretary Cheryl Skidmore on 01562 67479 or email cheryl.skidmore@thefreemason.com.

Performances of the show start at 7.30pm, apart from a matinee on Saturday, October 18, starting at 2.30pm.

For tickets, contact Kay Paine on 01562 638864 or Yvonne Dawson on 01299 403851.

Tickets will also be on sale on the door, subject to availability.
