A SERIES of events helped raise more than £8,000 for Breast Cancer Awareness.

The nine dare to wear it pink events, organised by workers at the Kings Arms Pub, in Cleobury Mortimer, took place in October and included lilo racing, a sponsored ale trail bike ride, a nine-hole golf day and a quiz night.

Everyone took part in the activities dressed in pink and the cash will be spent on research into breast cancer.

Shadia Smith, who helped organise the activities in October, said it was the second year the pub had held the events: “It’s been a real community effort. Everybody has really come together,” she said.

“We’re absolutely amazed with the amount of money we’ve raised. Last year we raised £2,000, which we thought was amazing but this year everyone pulled out all the stops. It’s been an amazing community effort.

“I would like to thank the community for its support because it shows the strength that we have got.

“She added: “The events went fantastically. It was really well supported we ended with a pink party and everybody dressed up. It was fantastic.”
