Hagley Primary School were approached by a firm of solicitors to run an art competition and offered prizes for the best design.

Talbots Solicitors, of Kidderminster and Stourbridge, wanted to re-design the “welcome” cards they send out to their clients upon completion of a house purchase.

The children took up the challenge and went on to design a host of possible images as contenders for the prize.

After a difficult job choosing the best entries, Talbots’ Conveyancing Team awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes – with Sarah taking first prize for her winning entry. 2nd and 3rd prizes went to pupils Georgia and Jemima respectively.

Martyn Morgan, Senior Partner, said “We are always pleased when our client’s house purchase goes through successfully and we do like to congratulate them. We were delighted with the effort the kids had made for the competition – one picture even used a “knitted” house with basket work as fencing – they have shown so much enthusiasm and a lot of skill in their work”.

Talbots awarded Waterstones’ gift vouchers for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes and also donated £250 to the School Fund. The donation has paid for a visiting artist who spent a day with Year 3 children teaching sketching and painting techniques.

Sam Tsang, Art Co-ordinator at Hagley Primary School, said “The work of all the children that took part was of an exceptionally high standard, with well thought out and unique designs. It must have been a difficult decision for the conveyancing team to choose the prize winners. I'd like to congratulate Sarah, Georgia and Jemima and also thank Talbots for their generous donation to the school fund.”
