SPORTS enthusiasts can enjoy free tennis sessions from a fully-qualified coach.

Anyone over the age of seven can take part in the sessions at Kidderminster Tennis Club up until July 18.

Dale Evans, Wyre Forest District Council’s Sports Development Officer said: “This is a great chance to have a go at tennis or improve your skills.

“We are offering help for people of all standards, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a racket before or have played in the past, we can cater for your ability.

“The idea behind these sessions is to get families involved in sports and enjoying playing together.“

Rackets and balls are provided so players only need to turn up in trainers and take plenty of water to drink.

A minimum of one adult must be at the sessions for every two children. Places are limited so people are advised to call 07779 628995 or 01562 732924.

There are two tennis courts at Brinton Park, which are free to use. Other courts are available at St George’s Park in Kidderminster and at the Memorial Park in Stourport.

For aspiring young athletes there are weekly athletics sessions for 14 to 16 year olds every Sunday until July 12, excluding June 7.

Sessions are at Kidderminster and Stourport Athletic Club from 10am until noon and will include a mixture of track and field events. The cost is £5 for the course.

For the girls, there are weekly aerobics sessions at the Glades Leisure Centre every Friday until July 17 from noon to 1pm.

The athletics and aerobics sessions are part of the ‘Sport Unlimited’ programme funded by Sport England and Extended Service.

It aims to make sport and physical activity accessible to children and young people aged five to 19.

The coaches are fully qualified and CRB checked. For more information contact Sports Development on 01562 732917.
