Hartlebury firm stages Dora Bryan tribute

POPULAR veteran actress, Dora Bryan, is being honoured with a star-studded charity gala being run by a Hartlebury company.

Presentation and communications company, the Drpgroup, has been chosen to stage the event.

The tribute to the actress, more recently known for her role in Last of the Summer Wine, will bring together many of her friends and fans for an evening of entertainment and reminiscence on the career of the BAFTA and Olivier award winning star.

Sir Cliff Richard, Billy Boyle, Jess Conrad, Jill Martin, Johnnie Casson, Linda Lusardi, Robin Cousins, Sam Kane, Zoe Tyler, Liz Smith and Joanna Lumley will all contribute to the gala, on Sunday, May 31.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to charities close to Bryan’s heart, including the Alzheimer’s Society and the Variety Club’s children’s charity.

Drpgroup has been commissioned by entertainment company, E3 Group, to manage and provide all the technical support and the stage and set production for the charity event, which will be held at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London.

Dale Parmenter, managing director of Drpgroup, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this event, which will benefit so many worthwhile charities, as well as pay tribute to a very special lady.

“We pride ourselves on delivering a first class service and it’s a real honour to be able to use our talents and expertise to help this worthwhile cause.”

Watchful, Kidderminster says...
10:03am Fri 15 May 09

Yes! We want our M.P.'s crucufied, yas, because they have been fiddling us for years haven't they! I have no faith in any of them anymore and I'm not voting as a protest! They're all alike aren't they?
Well yes, I have to admit that this was my first reaction when the witch-hunt began. But take a couple of days to chill out and then have a good think just what that would mean.
Well for one thing if you go and vote for the B.N.P. you will be voting for a lot of things that would betray your own parents and granparents and what they held dear. Indeed what some of your antecedents gave their lives for. Avote for the B.N.P. is a vote for facism. This is what this country stood up against in 1939, against the tyrany of the likes of Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
Oh Yes but that could never happen here. I can hear the anguished cries! This is England we wouldn't stand for it!
Well a vote for The National Front oops! Sorry they changed their name if not their policies, some time ago they also don't like the word facist!
A vote for the B.N.P. is a vote for the oppression of liberties, freedom of choice and freedom of speech, in fact it will take away any freedom you ever had eventually. That's impossible isn't it! As the victories mount up with the full endorsment of the British electorate and if the B.N.P. continue to gain power over the next few years, it will not be "English jobs for English" people on the banners but a subtle change to a stronger wording and an icitement to denounce anything you do not agree with. We will become a nation of informers. The witch-hunt of M.P.'s at this time, will pale into insignificance compared with what will become the norm. It will begin with a misguided feeling of patriotism and gradually change to a crusade fuelled by fear. Fear of not being seen to do the right thing. Fear of being ostrasised for being different. Fear that if I don't denounce him for that, I will be classed the same. You will be coerced by fear to denounce every person who is slightly different. Where will it end? Homosexuals? They deserve persecuting don't they! Jews? Oh they expect to be persecuted! How about all them Poles that come here in 2006-7-8. Let get rid of them ****'s, would you really like to see the return of **** bashing and skinheads. They were only one step to the left of Facism.

There cannot be one person in this country who did not have an ancestor who did not suffer in some way during World War two, suffered to give you the liberty to go and vote for who you like. Do not vote to end that right. A vote for the B.N.P. now, as you are entitled to, will be a vote to curtail your freedom of choice in the future.

Well I won't vote at all!
If you do not use your vote it is almost as bad, for this simple abstinence will give the votes of the fringe parties greater power, they will have a larger percentage of the overall result. A percentage that can be built on. Please do not push these issues to one side, for if you do not use your vote and use it wisely then you are allowing Facism and everything associated with it into your country as sure as day follows night.

Imagine if you can about 20 years from now, a country where it is common-place for someone writing as I am today, expressing my opinion, receiving a visit in the small hours, being dragged away and never heard of again. Forget the pen name, they will find out who you are. Is that the country you want your children to grow up in?
