THE work of the Bewdley-based National Flood Forum has been recognised by the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.
At its spring meeting, in Birmingham, the CIWEM Rivers and Coastal Group awarded the Chairman’s Prize to the Forum “in recognition of their outstanding contribut- ion in providing support and advice to communities and individuals that have been flooded or are at risk of flooding.”
Andrew Gilham, of CIWEM, said: “The prize is awarded to a group or individual who has made a significant contribution to the rivers and coastal community.
“Since it was formed in 2002, the forum has consistently been providing invaluable help, support and advice to those affected by the trauma of flooding.
“They are also a strong voice for influencing central and local government and others who manage flood risk.”
The forum’s chief executive, Mary Dhonau, who spoke at the conference received the award on behalf of the organisation.
