AN AUSTRALIAN cockatoo gave a decorator a shock at a house in Blakedown when it flew down and landed on the man’s shoulder.
The tame Galah cockatoo was easy for the worker to contain and a call was then made to the RSPCA.
Steve Davies, an RSPCA animal collection officer, took the bird from the house in New Wood Lane to a wildlife centre near Evesham.
The RSPCA is now appealing for the bird’s owner or anyone with information to call the national cruelty and advice line on 0300 1234 999.
Mr Davies said: “He is a beautiful, friendly bird that is clearly owned.
"He does have a ring, so I called the parrot society but sadly he is not registered with them.
“This is such a pity as, similar to when an animal is microchipped, if the owners details had been registered we would have been able to re-unite missing bird and owner within hours.
“We hope to find his rightful owner so I would ask anyone with information about this cockatoo gives us a call."
The bird's owner will be able to confirm ownership by quoting the numbers on the bird's ring.
