Arrest warrant issued for 'prolific' Bewdley thief

A JUDGE issued a warrant for the arrest of a "prolific" Bewdley thief who failed to turn up to be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court.

Brett Hodson, 28, of Northwood Lane, Bewdley, had been committed by Kidderminster magistrates on a charge of stealing meat from the Co-op.

Defence barrister Simon Rippon said Hodson was unable to attend because he had a doctor's appointment.

But Judge Toby Hooper QC said Hodson was a "prolific offender" who had committed 25 shoplifting offences in the last five years.

"We have a serious situation and it is in the public interest to prevent further offending," he said. The case was adjourned until Friday.
