Fairy tale ending for Kidderminster girl

DISAPPOINTMENT turned to joy for little Isabella Brooks with a surprise gift from Kidderminster Carnival organisers after her fun was cut short with a trip to hospital following an accident at the showground entrance.

The five-year-old suffered severe bruising to her foot - and narrowly escaped breaking two toes - in the accident with a disability scooter as she arrived at Brinton Park after taking part in the street parade Carnival parade organiser, Kate Lane, popped in to her Holman Street home to present the youngster, who is now well on the mend, with a sparkling tiara and fairy wand to make up for missing out on the fun-packed afternoon.

Mum, Rebecca Brooks, said: “She wore the tiara all round town later that day and even wanted to take it and the wand to bed with her. She said the tiara was just like the ones the princess and rosebuds wore in the carnival - she was really chuffed.”

Isabella, a pupil at St John’s CE Primary School, had walked the two-hour parade dressed as a fairy as part of the prize-winning pushchair group entry by the SureStart Rainbow Children’s Centres.
