A BEWDLEY motorcyclist who was slapped with a fine while parked in an area without restriction signs says he wants the rules on parking clarified.

Reginald Moule parked his motorbike near Blunt Shoes, in the Bull Ring, Kidderminster but was shocked to find he had been issued with a penalty notice when he returned to his vehicle.

The 61-year-old, of Lancaster Road, said he was “furious”, as there were no signs to say he could not park there.

He said: “I’m using common sense coming into the town on a motorbike and putting it in an area where it’s not in anyone’s way and I get a £70 fine for my troubles.

“I don’t think it’s fair, as there’s no signs to say you can’t park there.

“Motorcyclists have only got one designated area for parking, in Market Street, but I don’t want to walk all the way across the town.”

Mr Moule added he had parked in the same spot every weekend for the past 10 years but had never been issued with a ticket.

“I want something confirmed,” he said, ”If there was a sign there saying no motorbikes, then fine, I would not put my bike there.

“There were two other guys there who had been told by the civil enforcement officers that it was ok to park there but the guy who gave me my ticket told me that it wasn’t.

“What do we do? Where do we go? I want them to all start singing from the same hymn sheet.”

A spokeswoman for Wyre Forest District Council said: “ We will not comment on individual cases but if there is any question relating to a specific ticket that has been issued, there are appropriate appeal mechanisms in place to address them.”
