TWO four-year-old pupils said “I do” in a make-believe wedding as part of their religious education studies.

Lewis Shepheard and Scarlett Holand, of Astley CE Primary School, said their vows at St Peter’s Church as part of a lesson on special celebrations.

The reception class made a gown, the bouquets and wedding cake and sent out invitations to prepare for the ceremony.

A reception was held after the church service and youngsters enjoyed drinking lemonade from champagne glasses and a disco.

Jeanne Whatmore, reception teacher, said: “It was like a traditional wedding. The children thoroughly enjoyed it.”

RE for four year olds? Scary stuff. I suppose it's the right age so they find out about all the fairy tales at the same time though. The only problem I have is that some of them are presented as true and worthy of special consideration.
