PUPILS at a Stourport school spent an afternoon chasing and catching their “dreams” during an outdoor lesson.
The youngsters, of Burlish Park Primary school, were inspired by Roald Dahl's book, The BFG, in which the giant makes a net to catch the children's bad dreams.
They spent the afternoon in Forest School, an outdoor classroom, for the task.
Forest School leader, Lynda Williams, said: “The children made their dream catchers out of wool and natural materials found in Forest School.
“We talked about how dream catchers originated from the Native Americans and how good writers often borrow ideas from each other.
“The outdoor classroom is an important part of the curriculum and we encourage children to interact with the natural environment as often as possible.
“While chasing their dreams, the children were not only enjoying themselves but learning to use their imagination, which was reflected in their writing later.
“The dreams they caught were bottled in jars and are sitting on the shelf of our year four’s Roald Dahl display.”
