Comic Pratchett tale hits Kidderminster theatre

AN ADAPTATION of a Terry Pratchett novel is being staged at Kidderminster’s Rose Theatre.

Starting next Sunday, The Nonentities’ performance of Maskerade will run until Saturday, December 5, with an extra matinee performance that day.

The tale, described as “Phantom of the Opera rebooted for the Tarantino generation”, sees a cheese-maker, who has bought an opera house, finding it is haunted by a ghost who is blighting their success.

Meanwhile, two witches who go in search of forgotten royalties on a cookery book end up hunting down the ghost in the opera house.

Following Maskerade, The Nonentities will be helping patrons to get into the festive mood, with their traditional Christmas entertainment, running at The Rose from December 9 to 12 at 7.30pm.

Kerena Taylor, publicity manager for the Rose, said: “The promise is to bring music, stories, poems, reading and singing. If that isn’t enough to tempt people out on a cold wet winters evening, included in the ticket price is a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine.”
