VINTAGE tractors will plough across Wyre Forest on Boxing Day (December 26) to raise cash for the Millbrook Suite.
The annual “road run”, organised by Bridgnorth Vintage Machinery Club, will showcase a host of farm vehicles old and new.
The event begins at 10am at Keene’s Farm, opposite Wyre Forest Visitor’s Centre. Visitors are welcome to arrive early to see the tractors up close.
The route includes a stop at the Dog Lane car park in Bewdley at about 12.30pm, where a collection for the Millbrook will be made. This will also provide another opportunity for visitors to have a look at the vehicles.
The procession will end up back in Keene’s Farm for tea and mince pies in farm owner Harry Bray’s shed.
Previous events have seen crowds of people gather to view a range of rare and classic machinery.
Ray Attwood, one of the organisers, said: “We get people who drive their tractors all the way from the borders of Wales. Everyone that takes part really looks forward to the event.
“It is a bit more of a low key affair compared to the one at Easter but everyone enjoys it.”
He explained the Millbrook had been chosen as this year’s beneficiary as members of his family had been treated there for cancer.
He went on: “We noticed the campaign in the paper and the Millbrook Suite is close to our heart so we decided to try and help.
“Some of my family have had cause to use the unit and my aunt helps out with the League of Friends, so it means a lot to us.”
