Bag-packing Kidderminster Scouts raise £800

BAG-packing Scouts used the pre-Christmas rush to their advantage by raising £800 for Kemp Hospice.

Kidderminster and District Scouts helped customers at Sainsbury’s in Kidderminster pack their bags on Saturday.

They have continued to help out at Sainsbury’s and Morrisons in the town until Christmas Eve.

Cash is also being gathered for general Scouts funds, while some older Scouts and Explorer Scouts are gathering cash for a camping trip to Kandersteg in Switzerland next summer.

Hospice fundraiser Alistair Fuller said: “We are delighted to have such wonderful support from the Scouts and the Christmas bag-packing is always fun.

“It is so good of everyone to give up their Saturday at such a busy time of the year and we are very proud to work with the Scouts in serving the people of this community.”

He added the great majority of the hospice’s funding came from “the generosity of the local community”.

Mark Searl, Scouts bag-packing co-ordinator, said: “From Scouting in Kidderminster, I would like just to thank Sainsbury’s for allowing us the opportunity to raise funds for Kemp Hospice and to thank the local Scouters for giving up their valuable time to support the cause.”

For over 25 years, KEMP Hospice has been offering care and support to people throughout the Wyre Forest, who are living with life-threatening illness.
