Police warning following Kidderminster burglary

RESIDENTS are being warned to be vigilant with their home security following an attempted burglary in Kidderminster in the early hours of this morning.

It happened in Baldwin Road at about 5.10am.

The offender entered the house through an unlocked door but left empty-handed after being disturbed by occupants.

Detective Inspector Terry Shore said: “We want to highlight these burglaries so that householders will think twice about the security of their own properties.

“It’s vital that people get into the habit of closing windows in unoccupied rooms and locking external doors, even when they are at home. It’s also important to double-check all doors are locked before you go to bed at night.

“We know all too well that thieves are opportunist – and will look for the easiest option.

“If your house is fully secure, and access to your back garden is restricted through a locked gate or fence, offenders may well move on to an easier target.

“Thankfully burglary across North Worcestershire remains low and while we do not want to alarm people, we do want to encourage them to give proper consideration to their home security, especially as some insurance companies will not pay out where householders have failed to lock doors or secure windows.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information about the burglary or anyone noticing any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood to call them on 0300 333 3000.

People can also ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Thanks for the good reminder about keeping our homes secure. One additional layer of security to consider is a home security safe. A safe is the last line of defense for your valuables. For information about safes of all types visit <A href="http://maximum
