Royal visits Kidderminster company

By Neil Watts

THIRTY years of a Kidderminster-based business was honoured by a royal visit today.

The Countess of Wessex visited Hewett Recruitment’s Bridge Street head office to mark the anniversary.

Louise Hewett, founder and managing director of the company, said: “It was a huge honour. We don’t get many royals in Kidderminster.”

Ms Hewett has won the award for Worcestershire Business Woman of the Year, been named a Fellow of the University of Worcester and is a patron of St Richard’s Hospice but saw the visit as very “special”.

She said: “Today was something really special among all those things. It could not have been a more lovely experience.”

The Countess showed her business know-how when she met Ms Hewett and her team of recruitment specialists to discuss their training and recruitment services and the growing economy in Worcestershire.

Ms Hewett said: “She was completely delightful and extremely well informed. It was very evident she was a woman who understood business.

“She also showed how genuinely interested she was in our business.”

The Countess proved to be a hit with the staff, Ms Hewett added, saying: “She left everyone with a huge grin from ear to ear. My staff raised a cheer when she left and waved her off.”

The Countess of Wessex was born Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1965 in Oxford and after working in public relations for more than a decade, married the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward in 1999.
