A KIDDERMINSTER woman fears she will never get her money back from a children’s party organiser after her daughter’s big day ended in tears.
More than 60 disgruntled parents have complained after arranging events through Little Divaz, which runs pampering sessions for youngsters.
They are all trying to stop the Stourbridge-based firm trading, as they are unhappy with the service it provides. In some cases, parents claim the organisers has not even turned up to the parties booked with it.
Kidderminster mother, Paula Manning, 36, paid £100 for her daughter, Katie’s eighth birthday celebration in January.
Katie and seven of her friends were left disappointed, however, when the member of staff left after 30 minutes – despite being booked for two hours, according to Miss Manning.
She explained: “I won’t be happy until the company closes down. My daughter cried for two days after the party, thinking she wasn’t special.
“The kids were supposed to be made up like princesses but it was a joke. I was absolutely livid.”
It has emerged Dudley Trading Standards is already investigating the company after receiving two complaints.
The Shuttle’s attempts to contact Katie Brown, managing director of Little Divaz, brought no response.
Miss Manning, a self-employed cleaner, booked the party after seeing the company’s website, which promised to make the children “look like film stars”.
She said: “When the woman turned up, she only put a bit of cheap nail polish on their nails, which started falling off later. She didn’t even ask whose birthday it was and made no effort with the kids.”
The Little Divaz website has been shut for reconstruction since Monday. Until last week the firm was still taking bookings from parents, according to comments made on internet consumer forums.
“I rang and emailed the company over and over and got no reply – I’ve been trying so hard to get my money back but I’ve given up on that now,” Miss Manning said. “It’s the fact they have continued trading and little girls have kept getting hurt.”
Dissatisfied customers from across the Midlands have set up Facebook groups and blogs to make their feelings known.
“I’ve worked so hard to get information together on Little Divaz – I’ve got the bit between my teeth now,” Miss Manning continued.
