A ROCK festival is set to take a picturesque setting by storm to raise much-needed funds for a village hall.

Arley Fest at the sports and social club on Saturday, June 19, features a packed line-up of bands from Wyre Forest and the Midlands.

Hardcore revellers can camp overnight on the club’s playing fields but must contact the venue in advance.

Cash raised will go towards the £1.3 million rebuilding of the village hall, which is also used by Upper Arley CE First School.

“We’ve got some great local bands and it should be a really good atmosphere on the day,” said Lucy Johnson, one of the organisers.

“There were different ideas for fund-raising events floating around but a lot of us have a musical background so this seemed like a good way to go.”

Organiser Nigel Mayall will also be getting involved with his own group, the soul/rock five-piece Shaking Trees.

The group has built up a following by hosting a weekly night at the Moonshine Rooms in Bewdley.

One of the most popular acts taking to the stage at the festival is Kidderminster rock group Naked Remedy, who won Worcester’s Got Talent last year.

Influenced by 70s rock acts like Led Zeppelin and Rory Gallagher, the band play a mixture of covers and their own material.

They are joined on the bill by solo artist Bryn Teeling, a former member of Bewdley band Amoeba.

Other names to look out for on Saturday are Chainwire, from Wales, and Stourbridge’s Jennifer Danielle Robins.

There will be a licensed bar, burger stalls and a bouncy castle at the event, which kicks off at 4pm. Tickets are available to buy in advance from Arley Post Office, Upper Arley Primary School, Bewdley Outdoor Store, or by calling 01299 861672. Tickets also available on Ebay via paypal.
