THE ladies section of Bewdley Pines golf club held a fund-raising competition to sponsor a senior men’s member who plans to run a half-marathon as a 75th birthday challenge.
Brian Taylor will compete on Sunday, September 19 as part of The Great North Run in aid of Breakthrough breast cancer research.
The ladies raised £200 through the competition and a cake stall.
The competition was won by a team of Lesley Barratt, Mary Baulk, Julie Ward and Joyce Kerrigan.
In second place were Barbara Weston, Gill Godfrey, Joan Wallander and Chris Martin.
The Seniors War of the Roses was won by Brian Faulkner with 47 points. Second was Joe Brookes with 46 points and third was David Kettle with 45 points.
