HUNDREDS of visitors came to Stourport canal basins during a heritage weekend.
During the event, visitors were treated to a coracle display in the lower canal basin by David Struckett, who has built his own coracle.
Visitors also had the opportunity to learn more about the growth of Stourport as a canal port and town at the two heritage rooms on site and to explore Scorpio, a British Waterways historic working canal boat.
Two of Stourport’s historic churches, St Michael’s Church and Stourport Methodist Church also welcomed extra visitors during the weekend of September 11 and 12.
In addition, Stourport Masonic Hall opened its doors, offering tours of the building and memorabilia.
Liz Sheerin, of Stourport Forward, said: “It was lovely to welcome so many visitors to the canal basins who were interested in learning more about the history of the basins and the town and to meet past and present residents who were happy to share their own memories.
“Stourport has such a unique and fascinating history.”
