A DRUMMER from rock band Lost Prophets gave a music lesson to Kidderminster students last Monday. Luke Johnson returned to Kidderminster College, where he studied music, to share industry tips with students.
He told of his early exposure to music as a child, the strong work ethic instilled in him by his father and his determination to make it in the competitive music industry.
The rock musician stressed the importance of study and how his BTEC National Diploma in Music, gained at the college ten years ago, stood out among his credentials in his green card application.
The former Beat Union drummer, closed the session by posing for photographs and signing CDs which he brought along for the students.
Course leader for music at the college, Andy Edwards, said: “It’s crucial that our students are exposed to as many diverse styles of music, and get the opportunity to work with professional practitioners if they’re to enrich their artistic vision, so we were delighted when Luke agreed to come in and share his experience and the secret of his success with us.”
Kidderminster College runs several courses in music and music industry management, anyone interested in joining a full time course can still do so, up until mid October, and should contact student services on 01562 512003 / 4.
