CLEOBURY Mortimer will hold its second beer festival following on from last year’s success.

The festival will take place at Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16.

Last year’s event was attended by 500 people and it is hoped even more will turn out this year.

Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to taste more than 30 local ales from companies such as Bewdley Brewery, as well as several local ciders.

The festival will again have a St George’s theme with lots of flags and traditional English food like cheese platters, pork baps and other delicacies which have been produced in Worcestershire and Shropshire.

The event has been organised by Dave Pain with his brother and uncle. Mr Pain and his brother, both university graduates, decided to start up the festival as a project while looking for jobs.

Mr Pain said: “I believe last year’s festival was successful because of the good venue, good beer and good food which appeals to a lot of people.

“Residents round here are very proud of what they have and would support the local community.

“We also have a lot of support from local breweries and we had really positive feedback from last year.

“Ticket sales have been good so far, with 134 tickets sold in advance.”

Music will be provided by more than 15 groups and individuals from Birmingham, Manchester and London and there will be an acoustic open mic session by Aaron Booton.

Mr Booton, a Kidderminster College music student from Cleobury and Mr Pain have known each other for some time and have previously played music together.
