SIX gardens will feature in a charity open gardens event in Astley on Father’s Day.
According to the organisers: “[There will be] a magical grotto, huge tree house and fish ponds – one with huge koi carp – for the kids and lots of features and planting schemes to provide inspiration for mum and dad’s own garden.
“These include a tropical garden, a walled garden, follies, cottage gardens, vast herbaceous borders and vegetable plots.”
Tea and cake will be available as well as three plant stalls for purchasing Father’s Day treats.
All proceeds will go to the charities of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS). In the last three years, Astley Open Country Gardens has raised £7,500 for the NGS, which supports charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Help the Hospices.
The garden owners aim to take the amount raised up to £10,000 this year. Their gardens will be open between 1pm and 6pm on Sunday June 19.
Register at Astley and Dunley Village Hall to get a programme and map. Charges are £5 per person (free for children) and car parking will be available at each location.
