A MUSICIAN from Kidderminster is through to the semi-final of a national songwriter’s competition, judged by Sir Bob Geldof.

Dale Von Minaker is one of 24 artists left in the annual national YouBloom song contest.

The competitors will be whittled down to 12 who will go through to the judges round.

The judging panel which includes Bob Geldof and Rupert Hine will choose their six favourite tracks to go through to the final.

Dale said: “The feedback I have had from people on my entry track Everybody Wants A Revolution has been really encouraging with one woman from Leicester I had never met demanding I send her a copy. I shall be playing a few open-mic nights in Bewdley and Moseley to help promote myself during the exhausting campaign week which starts today, with voting ending midnight on Tuesday, July 5.”

He added: “It only takes two minutes to vote and I appreciate all the support I receive. Being a professional songwriter has always been my key aim in life and to have people of the judge’s calibre to listen to and discuss one of your compositions is a very big deal for any musician.”
