TWO young farmers from Chaddesley Corbett will be among a group of women tackling three mountains in three countries in one day to raise money for charities.

Kate Yardley, 20, and Steph Currie, 22, will take on the challenge with Tor Howell, also 22, of Dunhampton and Charlotte Harris, 25, of Fernhill Heath.

The girls, who are members of the Cutnall Green Young Farmers Club, are hoping to raise £1 for every foot they tackle of Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon.

They will be climbing 11,178 feet in total to raise cash for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, Noah’s Ark Trust - which provides support for bereaved children - Children with Cancer UK and Make a Wish Foundation UK.

The girls are setting off on the challenge on Saturday and are also appealing for help with equipment and sponsorship.

They have already had a car donated by garage owner Hamish Lindsay, of Bromsgrove, which will help them carry their food and equipment.

Physiotherapist Miss Harris, who did a practice run at Snowdon on bank holiday Monday, said: “As none of us normally does anything like this it will be a real test of our mettle.

“We still need proper boots, good head torches, help towards the fuel, survival blankets, compasses, waterproof trousers, gloves, hats and waterproof jackets, if there are any companies or individuals out there who can loan or supply them by September 17 when the challenge takes place.”

People who would like to support the girls by pledging money to their chosen charities should log on to virginmoneygiving.com/CGYFC.
