WYRE Forest’s MP attended a tree-planting event in Kidderminster to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

With the help of pupils of St Ambrose Catholic and St George’s CE primary schools, Conservative Mark Garnier helped plant 420 trees donated to Friends of Baxter Gardens by the Woodland Trust.

To celebrate the anniversary of the Queen’s jubilee, the Woodland Trust is helping millions of people get involved with their local area and plant six million trees across the UK and would like one million to be planted during February to mark the Queen’s accession to the throne.

Friends of Baxter Gardens are working with Wyre Forest’s parks and green spaces team to create a well-maintained and safe public area to enhance the quality of life for local people and act as a focus for bringing the community together.

Joe Scully, parks and green spaces manager for Wyre Forest District Council said: “It’s fantastic that so many people want to get involved to mark this historic occasion. Not only do events like these bring communities together but they also promote the excellent work done by local groups, such as Friends of Baxter Gardens.”
