A KIDDERMINSTER 1970s show band will entertain audiences at a charity fund-raising event.

Ballroom Glitz will play live at the Gainsborough House Hotel on Friday at 7.30pm where vital funds will be collected for Special Olympics Worcestershire. There will also be a tombola and a raffle at the event.

The charity provides year-round sports training and competitions in a variety of Olympic sports for children and adults with special needs.

Athletics and gymnastics coach, Lesley Andrews, said: “We have got the national games competition in 2013 and they act as a qualification for the Special Olympics’s world games in 2015.

“So they are really important and it is £375 per head for us to send someone so we are aiming to raise as much money as we can.

“Ballroom Glitz are very good entertainment and we are looking forward to it.”

The band, formed in 1991, will take the audience through the whole seventies experience from Abba to T-Rex, Sweet to Bay City Rollers and Queen to Black Sabbath.
