YEAR 5 and 6 pupils from Hagley Primary School and Year 7 and 8 students from The Bewdley School represented Wyre Forest at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County Indoor Athletics finals on Friday, March 2.

The event, led by the School Games Organisers and Eddie Parsons from Sportshall Athletics and supported by Young Leaders from Stourport High School and Wyre Forest District Council, saw pupils competing in a range of track and field events, with all team members scoring points for their team.

Year 5 and 6 pupils competed in the morning. After completing all their events, the team from Hagley Primary School finished fourth overall. In the afternoon, the Year 7 and Year 8 finals took place and the Year 8 boys team from The Bewdley School finished third overall, with the Year 8 girls finishing fourth. Both the Year 7 girls and the Year 7 boys teams finished sixth.

On Friday, March 9, selected Year 5, 6 and 7 pupils from across Wyre Forest competed in the Worcestershire Cross Country finals at Top Barn Outdoor Centre, Worcester.

The pupils, who qualified for the county finals through the Wyre Forest Cross Country events in November, raced against pupils from the other Worcestershire Districts, completing courses of approximately 1.5km.

Results from this event will be reported in the next Countdown to 2012 column on March 29.
