Luke’s headteacher, Caroline Hoddinott, of Haybridge High School, in Hagley, read a statement at the school’s gates yesterday, which said: “We are all terribly shocked and upset by the tragic death of Luke Chapman.

“Luke, aged 15, was a much-loved son, grandson, friend and student and we will miss him very much.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends, students and staff at this very sad time and the school will offer all the support we possibly can to all those affected.

“Our focus is to help family, friends and our whole community through this difficult time.”

Reuben Haynes, who set up the facebook page in memory of Luke, posted: "He died doing what he loved," and "Luke meant so much to everyone.”

He added: "I walked into school and there was total silence. So heartbreakingly sad, yet so inspiringly beautiful. So much respect for a great lad."

A cracking lad, and this is seriously sad news. My heart goes out to his family and friends, and hope he rests in peace! 15 is no age to pass away. RIP Luke x"
