TWO Kidderminster hairdressers say joining forces has saved both of their businesses.

HD Hair Designs, in Offmore Road, is a fusion of former stylists Hairdos and Lander’s Hair Design.

The shop opened after a five week transformation of Hairdos with an up-to-date salon and a new beauty room.

Owner Sue Kay, who ran Hairdos, said: “I have been here for 20 years now and kept it up and running but over time unfortunately trade slowed down. This has given us a new lease of life, it is fabulous and very up market.

“Ian [Lander, former owner of Lander’s] and I were both suffering and we got our heads together, it was this or close the doors.”

Mr Lander, whose business was seven doors down from the new salon, said the move had been very difficult.

“The important thing for me however was looking after my clients who have been very loyal to me over the last 35 years,” he added.

“It has been a very positive response from the clients.”

HD Hair Designs also features beauty therapist Sadie Gittins and holistic therapist Chris Gibbs who joined from Lander’s.

“We are making good use of both of our businesses,” said Ms Kay. “We have come together and we are playing to both of our strengths and it has been very good so far.”
