St George's weekend in the park

'Best yet': This year’s St George’s Park community fun day will have a lot to live up to. 'Best yet': This year’s St George’s Park community fun day will have a lot to live up to.

VARIOUS activities and performances will be held at a community fun day in St George’s Park.

The event, organised by Friends of St George’s Park takes place on Saturday from 11am until 3pm.

Entertainment will include musician Gehardt Kruckow and performances from acoustic singer songwriters, a jazz quartet and a ukulele band.

Musicians confirmed include the Servernside Ukulele Strummers Association, Chris Corcoran Collective, David Young and other Wyre Forest musicians.

There will also be dance performances by St George’s Church Youth Group and Rhythm Junkiez, a Birmingham-based street and hip-hop group.

The Svartland Living History Society will recreate the lifestyle of the Vikings and Anglo Saxon peoples, featuring period style tents and craft, skills, games and pastimes demonstrations.

Feather Perfect Falconry will bring owls, falcons and hawks and will give people the chance to talk about the birds ask questions.

Bric-a-brac toys, clothes and plants, will be on sale with all proceeds going to charitable causes. There will be face painting and bouncy castles.

Charity UnLtd will be available to provide financial and other support.

A barbecue provided by the Kidderminster Explorer Scouts and tea, coffee and cakes provided by St George’s Church.

Spike Betterton, Friends chairman, said: “This will be the third year we have held the community fun day. It looks like this will be our biggest and best so far.”
