Kidderminster Library gallery users 'not given enough time' to comment (From Kidderminster Shuttle)

• "I visited the exhibition earlier this week and whilst the plans do not appear as "bad" as I imagined, my personal view is that the changes proposed will not be "fit for purpose." Neither does it seem prudent to locate nearly 100 staff on the top floor of a facility that was designed and purpose built for something completely different. This area needs dedicated suitable space for the arts - the gallery provides that - the changes would terminally fragment it.
  However, what really concerned me was the line being promoted by those advising at the exhibition which makes me wonder just how valid consultation really is? When I outlined my concerns I was told that "senior members of the local arts community made the same points but when they saw our plans they changed their minds and are now totally in favour of what we want to do." Clearly that does not match the views expressed above - and if someone is "massaging" the facts, how can we be sure that the results of the consultation, when made public, will truly reflect the opinions made by visitors? It seems unlikely that those quoted above would have said one thing to the Shuttle and another at the exhibition. So, is, as some of us suspect, this already a done deal?"
