Man rescued from roof in Kidderminster

A MAN doing work on a Kidderminster roof had to be rescued after he struggled to make his own way down.

The man was doing work on the roof on the property in Goldthorn Road when he realised he could not get down.

Kidderminster firefighters were scrambled to the scene at about 2.35pm yesterday and used a nine-metre ladder and roof ladders to bring the "shaken" man off the roof.

Firefighters have now issued a safety warning after the incident.

Watch Commander Len Rees, of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The man was unharmed but rather shaken by the experience.

“We would urge anyone planning to do work on the roof to take extreme care, and to use only the correct equipment for the job.

"Ensure it is good quality and in good condition, and never be tempted to tie two ladders together to get extra height. It’s always better to get someone in with professional training for roof work rather than putting yourself at risk.”
