CLEOBURY Mortimer brewer Hobsons Brewery enjoyed a successful weekend at the Ludlow Spring Festival, picking up two awards in the SIBA Wales and West Region Beer Competition.

After a day of judging with experts from the region, the winning ales from the 15 different categories were announced, with Hobsons picking up silver for its mild and bronze medal for Old Henry in the bottle category.

Paul Albini, the brewer behind mild, said: “It’s great to have picked up two awards at this year’s event. There was a fantastic array of great beers competing for the top title and we’re extremely pleased the judges picked up on the unique taste and flavour of our two beers.”

Hobsons Mild was promoted heavily this month, linked to the National CAMRA Mild Month of May campaign, getting people to try the drink.

Hobsons Brewery, established in 1993, supplies cask ale to more than 250 pubs within an hour’s drive of the brewery and distributes its bottle range nationally.
