Bottoms up for Stourport beer festival
7:40am Wednesday 23rd May 2012 in News
Bottoms up: Ele Millward and Nick Yarwood sample the beer by Stourport’s historic River Severn bridge.
THERE will be plenty of cheers in Stourport this weekend when the beer festival comes to town.
The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) Beer Festival will take place at Stourport Boat Club from Friday until Sunday, raising money for Kemp Hospice.
It will boast up to 30 real ales and eight ciders. There will also be live Irish, folk and blues music on Saturday evening by The Ranters. The festival is open from 5pm until 11pm on Friday, 11am until 11pm Saturday and 11am until 3pm Sunday.
Kidderminster CAMRA chairman Nick Yarwood said: “Lovers of real ale locally are fortunate to have many brewers of fine ales within a short distance and their ales are appearing more often in local pubs.
“There are many more interesting and tasty ales, however, from these breweries than are sometimes seen on the bar and these ales feature in the festival.”
Kemp community fundraiser Ele Millward said the hospice was “very grateful” to CAMRA for its support.
“It is so valuable to us and enables us to keep providing vital services such as Hospice at Home, bereavement support and day hospice. We are also looking forward to the opportunity to meet lots of local people during the festival,” she added.
