A SEVENTY-one-year-old will get a taste of living on the edge, when he abseils down Abberley Clock Tower for charity.

Malcolm Lamb, of Little Witley is taking the plunge for St Richard’s Hospice, in Worcester.

He can see the famous landmark from his window and decided it was time to take up the challenge.

The retired electrical engineer will be facing the 141ft descent on August Sunday, August 12.

He last abseiled when he was about 20 and is most looking forward to arriving safely at the bottom of the tower.

“We have a number of fundraising activities in the village raising funds for St Richard’s and this is my opportunity to take the lead in a cause which is close to my heart,” said Mr Lamb.

Places are still available for the challenge. Anyone taking part will pay an entry fee to cover costs and training on the day and a minimum sponsorship is required. The day is organised in partnership with a team from Top Barn Activity Centre.
