A CHARITY in Kidderminster is aiming to feed children who will not receive their school lunches during the summer holiday.

Simply Limitless is running the Let’s Make Lunch project during the period.

The Puxton Lane-based charity says it is ready to feed up to 80 children each Monday to Thursday for the next four weeks.

According to the charity, financial pressures on families during the recession are even greater on those who receive free school lunches during term time.

Meanwhile, the Kidderminster Foodbank is also trying to keep up with demand for food over the summer holidays.

The Shuttle is a collection point for the foodbank and generous readers have been filling about three to four of our food boxes a week for us to hand over to the service since we started collecting about a month ago.

Simply Limitless spokeswoman Anne Sillars said: “For some it is an impossible pressure and the recent reports that mums are going without food to be able to actually feed their children are truly frightening.

“The thought of six weeks living like this would be overwhelming.”
